Sludge treatment and disposal into the environment are increasingly regulated worldwide, driving the wastewater industry to explore new solutions, at high costs. To minimize operating costs, sludge preparation and optimizing the dewatering process are essential to reduce its volume for drying or incineration. Anaerobic
digestion of sludge further reduces the volume and weight, and as a by-product, biogas and biomethane can be captured and reused as biofuel and electricity.
Ключевые факты
~40%
of the total operating costs of wastewater treatment process
are related to sludge treatment process. Endress+Hauser's portfolio helps reduce operating costs and optimize the treatment processes.
Sludge conditioner preparation
Polymer solutions for sludge conditioning must be prepared by dilution on-site. Flocculants are costly, and to achieve stable dewatering results and maximize dewatering cycles, achieving the right polymer concentration is essential.
Our expertise in the field
Our proven portfolio of highly accurate electromagnetic flowmeters enables optimal polymer solution concentration and polymer consumption.
Improve dewatering results for optimal sludge concentration
Because the achieved polymer concentration can vary, an optimal ratio between polymers and suspended solids in the sludge is only sometimes guaranteed. Optimized dewatering results depend upon controlled incoming sludge concentration and density measurement.
Our expertise in the field
Our Coriolis mass flowmeters combine flow and media density measurement for the constant and accurate dosing of polymer solutions. Alternatively, combining a precise electromagnetic flowmeter with a suspended solids measurement ensures stable and good dewatered sludge results.
- Ensure optimum flow and density measurement with very dark sludge by using Proline Promass A500 Coriolis flowmeter
- Achieve stable sludge dewatering results by combining our highly accurate electromagnetic flowmeter Proline Promag W 400 with the suspended solids sensor Turbimax CUS51D
Foam in the dewatering process
The centrate water from the sludge dewatering process is heavily contaminated with ammonium nitrogen and may only be fed to the wastewater treatment system in dosed quantities. For this purpose, it is buffered in a retention basin. Since the resulting foam of the medium strongly impairs the process, monitoring is indispensable.
Our expertise in the field
Our Micropilot FMR60 radar meter continuously measures the level of the centrate water and can detect the foam formation with the help of the integrated Heartbeat Technology. In addition, the optimum dosing quantity of the defoamer and efficient pump control can be ensured.
Efficient digester processes
Beneficial bacteria must be protected from critical conditions in the sludge digestion process.
Our expertise in the field
Our process instrumentation guarantees an environment where digester bacteria can flourish: maintained darkness, an absence of oxygen, constant temperature and a nearly neutral pH value.
- Ensure a constant temperature in the digester using our modular RTD thermometer TR15
- pH value in the recycling sludge pipe using our digital combined pH/ORP sensor Memosens CPS16E
- Guarantee sufficient retention time and a harmonized load of the process using our hydrostatic level measurement Deltapilot FMB50
Precise flow and methane measurements in wet biogas
Biogas flow rate and methane concentration are critical parameters indicating process disturbances in anaerobic sludge digestion. However, environmental conditions such as significant flow dynamics, water-saturated biogas, changing methane concentration and extremely low pressure make measuring these parameters difficult for most devices.
Our expertise in the field
Our unique inline Proline Prosonic Flow B 200 ultrasonic flowmeter provides accurate, reliable measurement of wet biogas flow rates and methane concentration under fluctuating process conditions.
